Academic Credits to Learn Italian in Italy

ACADEMIC CREDITS

The study abroad program offered by Scuola Leonardo da Vinci enables American students to earn Italian language credits.
All our schools collaborate with the State University of New York at New Paltz, the Edgewood College (Madison, WI) and the Santa Barbara City College (CA), whereby students registering with us may receive credits at those colleges. Since the State University of New York at New Paltz, Edgewood College and the Santa Barbara City College are higher educational institutions fully accredited in the United States, these credits will normally be transferable to most American Colleges and Universities.

The first step:
Please contact your registrar to verify whether your college or university accept credits awarded by one of these Universities. If yes, please download the application form (download it: PDF | DOC) and send it to Scuola Leonardo da Vinci Rome by fax or by letter.

Fax nr.: 0039-06-6821.9084
Scuola Leonardo da Vinci, Piazza dell'Orologio 7
IT-00186 Roma, Italia

Please note, that you may also attend your credit course in Florence, Milan or Siena, but only our school in Rome is authorized to collect credit transfer fees.

Which semesters of Italian language can be taken at Scuola Leonardo da Vinci with credits transfer?
Italian course 101 - first semester Italian
Italian course 102 - second semester Italian

How many credits can be earned?
The credit course is called "4-week-Standard Course" (80 lessons of 45 minutes each) and corresponds to 60 contact hours which enables you to receive 4 academic credits for each credit course.

Your department head may request a copy of the course syllabi and detailed program descriptions. This information can be obtained from Ellen Fehring, Registrar of Edgewood College. Please feel free to contact her at:

Edgewood College
1000 Edgewood College Drive
Madison, WI 53711
E-mail: registrar@edgewood.edu
Fax: (608) 663.3291
Tel.: (608) 663.2202

What are the costs for credit transfer?
For the current academic year the tuition to Edgewood College per 4-credit course amounts to US$ 600 (US$ 150 for each credit). This amount will be collected only by Scuola Leonardo da Vinci Rome.

For the language course costs please consult our price list.

What is the procedure?
All students applying for the program Italian 101 or 102 submit the "Credit application form" (download it: PDF | DOC) directly to Scuola Leonardo da Vinci Rome and enclose
a copy of the receipt of payment for the amount of the credit transfer. The money needs to be sent with notification that it is for "Fees for credit transfer Edgewood College" by bank transfer via "swift system" to the following bank account:

Bank: IntesaBci, via del Corso 226, 00186 Rome, Italy
Account number:
8775955-01-00 in favour of Scuola Leonardo da Vinci Roma srl, Rome
Swift code:
BCIT IT MM700
Bank clearing numbers:
ABI 03069 / CAB 05020

Another very important document: the school requests an official transcript from an accredited U.S. college or university or a high school graduation confirmation signed by the school principal. The transcript must be sent directly from the Institution to the school in Rome. The transcript is not considered official if it is mailed from anyone other than the Institution.

Furthermore we require that you also provide us with your application for enrollment in one of our centers (Rome, Florence, Milan or Siena). Together with this application you should send us the amount of Euro 70,00 (= registration fee). Following receipt of your confirmation, the school must receive the paid balance at least 21 days before the beginning of the course.

Please understand, that our schools and Edgewood College cannot accept your application without the receipt of the whole payment in advance.

After course completion, the school submits to Edgewood College the application documents, course information and student's grades as well as course tuition due to Edgewood College.
Grades will be recorded by Edgewood College as normal student transcript and will be included in the Edgewood cumulative grade point average calculation.
