The course aims to provide an introduction and basic preparation for those students that have a desire to test their artistic qualities.
The course is specially designed for people who are facing the visual arts, drawing and painting for the first time. The course syllabus is divided into two modules, the first module is oriented to the techniques and rules of graphic design (drawing), while the second module deals in greater depth the theory and practice of color. Although complementary, the two modules can be attended separately. To follow the single module of painting, it is
necessary that the student already has basic knowledge of drawing.

This course will enable you to study the history of Italian Design and learn about the
influence of Italian design in daily life.
Program:
- The first decades of the 20th century: How and why the design had its beginnings in Italy; Furniture among artisans and industry; Futurism as freedom of expression.
- The 30s and the 40s: Between rationalism and autonomy - from Terragni to Ferragamo; Changes in style of a nation living under a fascist regime.
- The 50s: Italian design is born - awards and recognition.
- The 60s: Plastic - the exuberance of forms and colours.
- The 70s: Great recognition for aesthetics and technology.
- The 80s: Post-modern - contemporary classical style; Abstraction and new colourings.
- The 90s: Influence and clash of Italian design in daily life.

The course aims to give an overview on how to do fashion in Italy, by analyzing the major components that are making part of it. The main objective of this course is to study all the elements that determine the importance of Italian fashion and define it’s value.
Altough the students are provided with a brief overview on the history of Italian fashion and the creation of the pret a portait, the themes of the course are more focused on the Italian fashion system from the 80’s to the present days. The great names of Italian fashion such as Armani, Versace, Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana are explored in greater depth.

At our school center in Florence we offer Courses in Jewellery,
Stone Setting, Chasing and Gemology combined with our language
courses, lasting 3 months to one year.
Jewellery
This course is directed to the making of high quality objects. The course includes
different ways of Goldsmithing. At the beginning students learn to make simple
objects to get acquainted with the tools and various material, and how to handle
the different gems and metals. Afterwards they learn how to give shapes to the
metal plates and wires, and how to make modern objects with mobile elements
and parts made with metal embossement techniques. The third part of more
classical teaching will be using techniques like: Open-working (boring),
Florentine Style and elements constructed with metal wires.
This course also includes Design lessons and also Wax-working lessons.

Stone Setting
This course helps to experiment all the most used stone setting systems. Starting with metal plates the students are
brought to learn how to use the tools and gems. Students are given semi-finished jewels given them by the best
Goldsmiths in Florence. The quantity and variety of those objects helps to see and repeat the most commonly used types
of stone setting, reaching in the end those types less used. Although this course is studied for students starting at zero, it
is also suited for craftsmen and stone setters who want to borden their knowledge with the newest techniques.

Chasing
The Chisel & Embossed Work Course provides the three most important stages, which will instruct the attendance at
technical and practical abilities for jewel and silver chisel.

This course “Traforo Fiorentino” teaches the refinement of the jewellery which has made Florence famous all over the
world: the “Florentine Style”.

Engraving
Course to obtain charming designs, simple and particular inscriptions from the precious metal, all with the guidance of
real craftsmen who have been working in the sector for many years.

Wax Working
In the Wax Casting course students learn to extract, from the soft wax, the most fantasy filled forms to curry out in
precious metals. Participants will be modelling the different types of wax (hard, medium, soft, tube, slab, block), use of
the saw, scalpels, files, emery-paper and spirit lamp, soldering techniques with electric pen, bezel making for stones and
settings, polishing of the wax prototype and finishing of the piece and casting with metal fusion.

The Jewellery Design Course is oganized in order to hold account of the various levels of preparation of students. Much

Thanks to the collaboration with NABA (New Academy of Fine Arts and Design), we are able to offer our students the possibility of attending a semester inside a recognized University of Arts, choosing between one of the following areas:
Before
starting the semester program, it is necessary that the students reach a good level of Italian language.
You can follow 4 or more weeks of intensive language classes and further on, during the semester you may improve your knowledge by following one of our extensive group lessons. The following are the language requirements that academy is requesting:
